Original Draw approved by AVC technical Committee 5 months before the tournament highlights that the group winners don’t have to play again with defeated teams during the classification round. According to tournament rules, Sri Lanka scheduled to meet the winner of the match no 26 — which was, interestingly the host nation Bahrain.
nonetheless, In an interesting turn of events, Sri Lankan Juniors who won all their first-round matches with exceptional performance were forced to play against Kazakhstan, the same team that they have defeated during the group stage.
As reported by our sources, AVC bias against Sri Lankan team occurred during the General Technical meeting which resulted after the first round. However, Our research suggests FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) dose not allow to change rules during an ongoing tournament. Furthermore, Sri Lanka was the only group winning team that had to go through such an invalidate process.
The ongoing tournament held in Riffa, Bahrain and concludes on 28 July 2018.
The top two teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship.
